Arik Marcell, MD MPH

Dr. Marcell is a board certified pediatrician and adolescent medicine specialist. Dr. Marcell is the Director of Clinical Services at the Harriet Lane’s Teen Clinic and has 10 years experience as the Director of Title X services. Dr. Marcell’s research focuses on adolescent sexual and reproductive health and access to care from patient and provider perspectives. He conducts interdisciplinary research integrating behavioral science, health services research, and public health practice. He is the PI on a CDC funded replication of Project Connect in Baltimore City with a focus on engaging minority male adolescents and young adults in sexual and reproductive healthcare. Dr. Marcell is the Chair of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine’s Subcommittee on Reproductive Health, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Adolescence, and a member on the American Psychological Association (APA) Working Group on Health Disparities in Boys and Men. He has extensive experience training health professionals on topics such as STDs, adolescent health, and male reproductive health. He is the lead instructor on the courses: Masculinity, Sexual Behavior & Health: Adolescence & beyond and the Seminar on Adolescent Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
